Munnabhai MBBS is a rarity in Hindi cinema – a clean comedy.
A young boy runs away from home to escape his father’s beatings, reaches Mumbai and becomes a ‘bhai’. Years later when he calls up home, the first question his father asks him is whether he has become a gunda or done something with his life. He lies that he has become a doctor. The parents visit him regularly and he had his cronies put up a facade of running a hospital.
Things go fine for three years, but then his father discovers that it was all a lie. This is told to him by another doctor, who’s daughter was to be wed to the Dr. Munnabhai.
After the insult Munnabhai decides to join the medical college. The rest of the movie is made up of Munnaibhai’s antics at the hospital.
